A Brief History of Carolina Bay Church

Sycamore Baptist Church was constituted in 1975 and had begun as Saint Andrews Homes Mission- a mission of Ashley River Baptist Church. Our parent church, Ashley River Baptist Church, was established by Citadel Square Baptist Church, which was established by Charleston First Baptist Church.

In 1966 the name changed to St. Andrews Homes Baptist Chapel. In 1969 the name was changed to Sycamore Avenue Baptist Chapel. In 1975 the chapel became self-supporting and was constituted into Sycamore Avenue Baptist Church. In February 1981 the first service was held in the new Sycamore Baptist Church on Highway 17.

In July 2006, the name was changed to Carolina Bay Church. On November 1, 2009, we called Pastor Michael Rucker.
